What this actually involves
Almost every failed shower we are called to rebuild failed at the waterproofing, not the tile. Water found a seam behind a niche, a pan that did not slope, or a membrane stopped short of the curb, and it ran for a year before anyone saw a stain. We build the wet side first and we do not tile over anything we would not stand behind in five years.
